Kuala Lumpur and the rest of Malaysia is seeing a boom in the medial tourism industry as more and more international visitors are seeking health care and cosmetic surgery in cheaper places. Malaysia's fees for medical care are priced very competitively; yet do not compromise on quality, which matches the fees of some of the best surgeons and hospitals in the world.
The standard of health care in Malaysia is moderated by the MS ISO9002 certification and accreditation by the Malaysian Medical Society for Quality. All private medical centres must also be approved and licensed by the Ministry of Health. Kuala Lumpur, as the capital city of Malaysia, is home to many of the best hospitals in the world for a wide variety of treatments. These include the Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre in Ampang, Islamic Medical Centre in Jalan Ipoh, National Heart Institute in Jalan Tun Razak, Pantai Medical Centre near Bangsar and Tung Shin Hospital in Pudu.
